Welcome to the Typewright Adafruit Macropad RP2040’s Documentation

The Typewright Macropad is an application of the Adafruit Macropad RP2040 macrokeypad to facilitate Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) markup of works using the Typewright application from 18thConnect.org and entering XPath commands into an XPath editor.

As part of the correction process in Typewright, you will be adding markup to indicate formal features like italicization or forme work features like catchwords using the recommended markup provided at 18thConnect.org. This could mean typing this code repeatedly (and inadvertently introducing errors) or cutting-and-pasting again and again.

By using a macro keypad like the Adafruit Macropad, a single keystroke can insert an entire markup tag for you, the same way every time. It’s faster, less frustrating, and, because it lights up and you assemble it yourself, actually quite fun.
