Negotiations ensue

For most of 1965, Robert E. Larter worked with President Meier and Mrs. Vincent L. Hawes, President of the Salem State Alumni Association, to secure approval, funding, and a contract for the mural. The agreement involved Larter being appointed to Salem State's Art faculty for one year and receiving an additional $6,000 to plan, execute, and install the mural.
