Patriotism: Devotion to the American flag
This collection of images is from a journal that was used during a citizenship class offered to immigrants. One of the most omni-present images seen throughout Americanization publications is love for the American flag. The flag represents pride and the U.S. government insisted that people honor and respect it. To reject the flag, would be to reject the country as a whole. The flag was therefore deemed essential in the Americanization of immigrants.
