Ground Provisions
- Cassava – Also known as Yuca, Yucca, or Manioc. Comes in bitter or sweet variety. The root from which the Bammy is made and from which Cassava flour is derived. (see: From Sustenance to Snack)
- Calabash - Another term for a Gourd, or the vegetable born from the Calabash Tree (see: Making Do)
- Cucurbita Moschata – Umbrella species for cultivars such as pumpkin and squash (see: Good Gourd: Pumpkins in the New World)
- Gourd - Umbrella term to describe family of foods including pumpkin and squash. (see:Good Gourd: Pumpkins the New World)
- Plaintain – Though visually similar to a banana, the Plaintain is an entirely different provision. (see:Plantain 101)
- Pumpkin – A root vegetable and member of the Cucurbita Moschata (see: Pumpkin: Then & Now)
