Sea Level ranges from appetizers to oysters and other seafood options, and it even offers specialty pizzas. The back of the menu is specifically dedicated to the different types of alcohol that this restaurant serves. They have several options of wines, each option ranging in brands. They also offer beer and other drink options.
This restaurant uses friendly section titles making it seem very family-friendly. The first section of this menu if “From the Raw Bar.” It offers several types of raw seafood including shrimp, oysters, and littlenecks. As well as this raw menu, Sea Level offers a “Fried Seafood” section on their menu. In this section, you have the option of a type of seafood, or if you are feeling adventurous, you can choose the “fisherman’s platter” and get a little bit of everything. Both options are served with French fries and cole slaw. Like many contemporary menus, Sea Level Offers different sections for “Salads and Chowder”, “Appetizers”, and “Entrees”. Instead of naming the section “sandwiches”, Sea Level made the choice to name this section “Between the Bread”. I find this to be a better way to name the section because the options offer more than sandwiches; they offer things such as hotdogs, hamburgers, lobster rolls, etc… Sea Level also has a menu option for “house-made pizza” and “house-made tacos”. The significance of “house-made” is that it makes it known to buyers that this is the restaurants item and it is freshly made in the restaurant. As well as using the phrase “house-made”, Sea Level also describes it’s seafood as “fresh”.
Appetizers: There are 13 items under the appetizer section of this menu. These items include steamers, fried clams, shrimp, lobster quesadillas, pickles, calamari, fish dip, wings, chowder fries, o-strings, octopus, clam pizza, and nachos. Each item clearly specifies how and what the item is served with. This sectionof the menu has many seafood options. There are not many non-seafood options other than wings and nachos. This tells us thats this area is a highly fish-populated area, and that fish is popular among the people of this area.
Salads and Chowders: There are 5 items under this section. These items include ceaser, beet, apple, kale, and new England clam chowder. Each salad lists the ingredients in the item and also comes with the salad dressing that is best for that mixture. This section offers a larger vaiety of salad options than chowder options. This section also offers only chowders, and not regular soup. This is becuase Salem is a part of New England. New England is known for its "New England Clam Chowder", which is what is offered at this restaurant. There are a variety of different salads at this restaurant. This tells us that different types of fruits and vegetables are available in this area.
Fried Seafood: There are two options under fried seafood. The first option is a “your choice”. You can choose from cod, clams, shrimp, or scallops. This item is served with french fries and cole slaw, and can also be served as a sandwich. The next option on this menu is the “fisherman’s Platter”. This option comes with a combination of cod, clams, shrimp, and scallops. This item is also served with french fries and cole slaw. This section offers a larger portion of food than the others. What this section and how it is served tells us that this is a popular place for people to go to as a group. The options that are in each item tells us that cod, clams, shrimp, and scallops are easily obtainable in this area.
Fresh Mussels: This section offers fresh mussels to the customers. It comes with a choice of 4 different sauces; smoked tomato, provencal, seafood bisque, and Thai pineapple chili. This restaurant ensures its customers that the mussels are "fresh." In order to offer fresh seafood, the restaurant must be able to catch the mussles the day that they are being offered, showing its customers that mussels are easily accessible for them.
House-Made Pizza: This section includes 7 different options. Each option in this section shares exactly what is on the pizza. The pizzas range from $12- $13.
House Made Tacos: This section includes 4 different items. Each taco option specifies what is in the taco and what it is served in.
Entrees: There are 10 different entrée options. Besides the usual seafood options that we have seen on this menu, the entrees include things such as chicken and steak. Each item in this sections explains how it is cooked and what comes with it. Becuase this section of the menu offers items other than seafood, we can tell that this restaurant is looking for a larger audience and in order to get that audience, they need other options on their menu.
Fresh seafood preparations: This section comes with 1 sauce and 2 sides. You have the choice of picking grilled salmon, swordfish, shrimp, tuna, market fish, or seared sesame tuna, salmon, cod, or market fish. The sauces include tomato bruschetta, pineapple salsa, lemon chive butter, and balsamic chili. There are 5 choices of sides in this section; greens, vegetables, roasted potatoes, coconut rice, and mashed potatoes. Like the mussels, this section advertises as "fresh." This tells us that along with mussels, salmon, swordfish, shrimp, tuna, and market fish are easily obtainable for this area.
Between the bread: This is the largest food section on the menu. It includes 14 different options, all describing what is in each option including what kind of bread it is served on.
I heard of this restaurant from a local and she highly recommended Sea Level for anyone who wanted seafood. Sea Level is reasonably priced, has a nice view, and has friendly customer service.
